My wife was all smiles and really happy (during and afterwards) to have enjoyed such a breathtaking view of a beautiful island. They flew up to 3,000 feet and enjoyed the coastline, waterfalls, mountains, and various sites along the route. Armin was very calming and professional and made sure that she felt safe and at ease. My wife was a little apprehensive at first having never flown in a powered hang glider and is afraid of heights. Armin Engert is the owner and was very responsive on the telephone when booking and answered all our questions. We booked 2 1-hour flights at Hang Gliding Maui. Recently my wife and I were celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary in Hawaii and visited all of the islands. Armin also allows you to use your own action camera (GoPro, etc.) which he mounts to the glider. We received many shots of all of us and you get them immediately after your flights (he uploads them onto your phone).
The $50 charge will apply for your entire group. Finally, you are crazy if you do not also get the pictures. Maui is an incredible island and I wanted my kids to see it by land, sea (snorkeling) and air. Armin's microphone system in the helmets made for crystal clear conversations.
We were able to get up over 4,000 feet (cloud cover prevented us from going any higher) and here you get to see so much of Hana that is impossible to get to by car or even on foot. He is also very enthusiastic when you are up in the air and he actually teaches you how everything works. The bad weather got us a chance to really get to know Armin who is really a great guy.

On our day we ran into a little bit of rain but Armin stayed patient watching the radar and managed to get all of us up for our full hours. Myself, my wife, and two children (15 and 12) went up with Armin earlier this week and it was the hands-down highlight of our trip. It seems that EVERYONE does a helicopter tour when visiting Maui so be different and book this excursion.
